The Book Lover’s Tag

Hello, dear ones! As you’ve learned from previous posts, I love reading. It’s an activity that has brought my life joy since I was able to string words together on a page.

After reading a delightful post written by Sílvia of The Happiest Pixel introducing and tagging all readers in The Book Lover’s Tag, (FYI, you need to follow her blog, it’s as lovely as it is creative and fun!) I decided that I too wanted to take part because WHO DOESN’T LOVE READING?!

General rules:

Thank and tag the blogger who nominated you.

Answer the 10 questions below.

Tag all the bloggers you know who love to read!

The questions are as follows:

Do you have a specific place where you like to read?

I prefer reading at home in my replica molded Eames chair with my feet propped up on the coffee table. But, I’m happy to ready anywhere, just so long as it’s quiet!

Do you prefer using a bookmark or random pieces of paper?

I check out most of my books from the library these days, so I usually use the paper receipt they print with the “return by” date. If I don’t have the receipt, I’ll use a bookmark. If I don’t have a bookmark, I will make one because I refuse to dog-ear pages; the people who do are monsters!

Can you pause reading in a book anywhere on the page or is best for you to do so at the end of the chapter?

When I was in junior high I was adamant about not pausing before finishing a chapter, but now I’m fine with pausing after I’ve read through the odd-numbered page, that way I know I’m starting on the even-numbered page. I won’t stop in the the middle though.

Do you eat or dink while you read?

I’ll usually have something to drink while I read, be it an iced chai or hot coffee.

Do you listen to music or have the TV on while you read?

I don’t own a television, so I don’t watch and read, but I will listen to orchestral music when I read, but only if I’m in the mood.

Do you read one or several books at a time?

One. I think it’s disrespectful to the authors to read multiple books at once. I also don’t want to confuse storylines or character arcs.

Do you prefer reading at home or elsewhere?

I prefer reading at home, but I ALWAYS have a book tucked under my arm or nestled in my bag so that I have the option to read at lunch or the coffee shop–even while I’m waiting for the train.

Do you read the words on the page out loud or silently to yourself?

I read the words silently to myself. To be quite honest though, I miss reading out loud, it was one of my favorite things to do in school, haha!

Do you break the spine?

NO! I’m not a monster! How can anyone feel good about breaking a defenseless book’s spine? Sigh, I used to repair books when I worked at a library in college. I shuddered every time one was returned with a broken spine. I take special care not open the book too harshly. Yep, I’m a psycho.

Do you write in your books?

That depends on the book. If it’s about a particular subject I’m trying to familiarize myself with, yes, but I only do so in the books I personally own.

And the nominees are…

Every reader of this post! Let’s keep the tag going!
